Submission Guidelines for Writer Friendly

C’mon, you know you want to get your 5 cents worth out there into the world.

Subject matter: The written word, the writing life, how other art forms, etc. intersect with literature, publishing  news.  What’s it like in your favorite genre today?  What advice are you dying to give?   Tell us about process, finding time to write, what you think about the climate in the publishing world.  What gets your creativity revved up?  I also like surprises.

Photography: I would love to include original photos that fit with your post, taken either by you or a friend.  You must confirm in writing that you have the right to use any photographs you submit to Writer Friendly.

Length:  200-800 words is nice for a blog post, but if you’re on a roll and you really need the extra space, you can probably sell me on it.  Or I might ask for an edit.  Queries are also fine.

Other stuff I’ll want from you:

A not-too-lengthy bio with links to your work if you have them.

A photo that you’d like to represent you.  The only real criteria is that it’s G-rated and you have the right to use it.

Contributors will have their own pages here on Writer Friendly where you can tell us about your favorite bookstore, writing resource, links to your previous work, blogs, etc.  if you’re so moved.  And I hope you are!

Payment: Unfortunately, nothing monetary at this time.  It’s not that you’re not worth it.  You are!   Writing for Writer Friendly will, however, earn you the appreciation and admiration of your peers.  And you’ll get the nifty Writer Friendly page to direct your relatives to when they ask what you’re up to these days.

Format: Please cut and paste your work into the box below to avoid sharing any digital versions of H1N1.  If the formatting looks funky, it’s okay.  We’ll fix it!
